Book Summary:
Quinn Alexander has committed an unthinkable crime.
To avoid spending her life in prison, Quinn makes a run for it. She leaves behind her home, her job, and her family. She grabs her passport and heads for the northern border before the police can discover what she’s done.
But when an unexpected snowstorm forces her off the road, Quinn must take refuge at the broken-down, isolated Baxter Motel. The handsome and kindly owner, Nick Baxter, is only too happy to offer her a cheap room for the night.
Unfortunately, the Baxter Motel isn’t the quiet safe haven it seemed to be. The motel has a dark and disturbing past. And in the dilapidated house across the way, the silhouette of Nick’s ailing wife is always in the window. Always watching.
In the morning, Quinn must leave the motel. She’ll pack up her belongings and get back on the road to freedom.
But first, she must survive the night.
Heather’s Review:
This was the second Freida McFadden book I read and I finished it in just two days. I love how easy her books are. For lack of a better explanation, I love that she writes for the average person and doesn’t use words that are so big that I have to stop to look them up.
Unlike The Housemaid, I didn’t find this ending as shocking, though it was very well written.
I love how Freida McFadden writes from each person’s point of view. It helps to tell the full story in ways you wouldn’t understand if everything was from one point of view.
I did notice a printing error in this book — on one page it says that it was a paper bag and then on the following page, it changes to plastic. I made the mistake of reading some reviews to see if anyone else had caught it and wound up reading something that I thought would ruin the book for me. Turns out it was just opinion and really didn’t match up with the story at all. But that will definitely stop me from reading reviews in the future.
I am now reading book three and hope to finish it this week. I gasped during the epilogue, so I’m sure this one is going to be a good one.
I give Do Not Disturb by Freida McFadden 4 out of 5 stars.

Sounds very a very suspenseful storyline. I like a good mystery.
The plot reminds me of a trailer I saw for Barbarian, I think it was called? I wonder if they pulled ideas from this book!
