Book Summary:

From Colleen Hoover, the #1 New York Times bestselling author of It Ends with Us, a heart-wrenching love story that proves attraction, at first sight, can be messy.

When Tate Collins meets airline pilot Miles Archer, she doesn’t think it’s love at first sight. They wouldn’t even go so far as to consider themselves friends. The only thing Tate and Miles have in common is an undeniable mutual attraction. Once their desires are out in the open, they realize they have the perfect set-up. He doesn’t want love, she doesn’t have time for love so that just leaves the sex. Their arrangement could be surprisingly seamless, as long as Tate can stick to the only two rules Miles has for her.

Never ask about the past.
Don’t expect a future.

They think they can handle it, but realize almost immediately they can’t handle it at all.

Hearts get infiltrated.
Promises get broken.
Rules get shattered.
Love gets ugly.

Maria’s Review:

Ugly Love is a novel by Colleen Hoover set in modern times. This was the first Colleen Hoover book I had read, and I had high expectations because of the hype.

The POV of the story was from Tate and Miles, and it was going back and forth from past to present. I must say it was not confusing to read this one.

Now, let’s talk about the characters. I love Tate, but sometimes I feel frustrated about her, and sometimes I understand her. Yes, it was a roller coaster of emotions for me. I do understand that she hopes that Miles might fall in love with her because of some actions that Miles did. On the other hand, I also felt that around Miles. I understand what happened to him in the past, but some of his actions were rude, like when he told Tate to close the door when they were done with the deed and when he slammed the door. I also love Cap and Corbin.

Did I like the book? Yes, I did, to the point I got teary-eyed while reading what happened six years ago. I only was craving for more after Miles started to open up. The book didn’t say the whole process of Miles opening up, and it was only brief. I want all of her thoughts. I also want to know who was Cap’s greatest love (I’m so nosy, lol).

I learned that I wouldn’t settle for Miles if I were Tate. I won’t chase someone who is not emotionally available because I know I deserve better. I won’t settle for someone who can’t trust me with his past. Therefore, I would recommend this book, but I’m confused if they need to put a trigger warning about Miles’ relationship before. It was a good read and had a happily ever after ending.

I give Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover 4 out of 5 stars.
