Book Summary:

One out of three women in the U.S. identifies as fatherless. An absent father who occasionally appears to bestow his affections only to disappear again leads a daughter to seek out others like him – men who are charismatic but emotionally unavailable –throughout her lifetime.

In this emotionally-charged memoir written in cinematic vignettes, Jayne Martin fearlessly bares the parts of her that were broken when her father left the family upon her birth and, in doing so, leads the reader on their journey toward wholeness and healing. Whether you are a fatherless daughter or are someone who loves one, “The Daddy Chronicles” will tear at your heart and open a world of understanding.

Alije’s Review:

The Daddy Chronicles is a tender memoir that combines the deep sadness of the loss. It is heartbreaking, raw, moving, and uplifting simultaneously! This is a stunning testimony of the kind of love, fated and magnificent.

This memoir is so vivid, powerful, and pitch-perfect that I experienced many emotions.

Jayne Martin has written a haunting story, and the spectacular way she spills her emotions onto the pages gripped me and wouldn’t let go. A delightful, fresh twist on the fatherhood memoir, Martin’s compelling and lyrical prose captured the difficulties of her broken parts when her father left the family upon her birth. This is a touching and riveting true story of hope and inspiration!

The Daddy Chronicles is a timely and deeply personal account of the loss of the author’s father. This is constructed in fascinating prose, elegantly written and with raw eloquence. This is achingly personal and stunningly familiar to anyone who is a fatherless daughter or someone who loves one.

I give The Daddy Chronicles by Jayne Martin 5 out of 5 stars.
